Heavy Seat Wear
Driver's seat bolsters typically show meaningful wear after 100,000 km, especially leather seats which crack and lose shape. A vehicle showing only 40,000 km on the odometer but with significantly worn driver-side upholstery is a strong signal that the mileage may not reflect actual use.
Worn Steering Wheel and Pedals
Shiny spots on the steering wheel grip, peeling material on the steering column shift selector, and polished rubber pedals are telltale signs of heavy use. Compare these wear patterns against the odometer reading and the year of the vehicle for a quick sanity check.
Faded or Replaced Controls
High-touch controls — radio knobs, climate control buttons, and the start button — wear visibly with use.
